Democrats' dominance in Connecticut's House delegation was unchanged by the GOP wave of 2014. If there is still a "swing" seat in the state, it's the northwestern 5th CD held by sophomore Democratic Rep. Elizabeth Esty. In 2014, Republicans nominated a candidate who was way too conservative for the district, and held her to 53 percent. It's unlikely she will have a more difficult time in a presidential year like 2016. CT-01: John Larson (D) - Central: Hartford Solid Democratic. Larson was termed out of his leadership position as Democratic Caucus Chair in 2012, but he still occupies a prime slot on the Ways and Means Committee and hasn't hinted he's leaving. He occupies a safe Hartford seat. CT-02: Joe Courtney (D) - Eastern third: New London, Norwich Solid Democratic. Of the 24 Democrats who defeated Republican incumbents in 2006, Courtney is one of just three who have safely entrenched themselves. Part of his advantage is clearly the increasingly Democratic nature of this eastern Connecticut seat, which borders Rhode Island. But Courtney also deserves credit for working his district hard
