For House Democrats, Election Night was something close to a nightmare. But ever since then, Democrats have received a steady stream of consolation prizes. A thin silver lining though it might be, nearly all of the too-close-to-call races on Election Night have broken Democrats' way. At one point last week, it looked as if Democrats could lose as many as 18 House seats. Today, it looks like they will end up losing just 13 or 14.
The three remaining races the AP has yet to call involve Democratic Reps. Ron Barber (AZ-02), Ami Bera (CA-07), and Jim Costa (CA-16). At the moment, Barber trails Republican Martha McSally by 161 votes, while Bera is ahead of Republican Doug Ose by 711, and Costa is ahead of Republican Johnny Tacherra by just 75. If each of the leaders of those races prevails, Democrats will have lost a net of 13 seats.
