This graphic, created by Kantar Media CMAG, compares advertising activity by Americans for Prosperity, the most prolific advertiser of the 2014 cycle to date, to activity by the Senate Majority PAC and House Majority PAC, the leading Democratic outside-group advertisers. Activity is measured in spot count (number of airings of ads) rather than estimated spending because spot count provides a more consistent comparison of activity across media markets, which can differ in expense. The graphic covers broadcast TV activity from January 1, 2013 through March 22, 2014 and includes the Massachusetts US Senate special election.
