Republicans officially have their nominee to take on Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff, with Rep. Mike Collins defeating former Tennessee football coach Derek Dooley by more than 10 points in the GOP runoff. It was a win for Trump, whose endorsement of Collins this weekend was a last-minute risk. Collins — who has a combative and controversial social media presence, a hardline abortion position and a pending ethics investigation — isn’t exactly a natural fit for suburban Atlanta voters. He will have to prove he can run a disciplined campaign and be a better fundraiser against the well-financed Ossoff. We continue to rate this race as Lean Democrat.Key Dates
