In both of the last two rounds of redistricting, New Jersey's bipartisan commissions have chosen a congressional map favoring Republicans. As a result, even though President Obama took 58 percent statewide in 2012, the House delegation is split 6-6. In 2012, Democrats badly want to nab retiring GOP Rep. Jon Runyan's 3rd CD and threaten GOP Rep. Frank LoBiondo (NJ-02), but are underdogs in both districts.

NJ-01: OPEN (Andrews) (D) - Southwest: Camden, Cherry Hill Solid Democratic. Some resignations generate free-for-alls, but not this one. When Andrews announced his resignation in early February amid an ethics investigation into his use of campaign dollars on personal trips, it was clear within hours that Democratic state Sen. Donald Norcross would have the inside track to replace him in this solidly Democratic South Jersey seat.
