The Partisan Voting Index District Summary chart is intended to show how Democratic and Republican held U.S. House districts fall on the partisan spectrum. The PVI measures how each district performs in presidential elections compared to the nation as a whole and was calculated using the 1992 and 1996 major-party Presidential vote. The PVI is an attempt to find an objective, comparable measurement of the partisanship of each Congressional district. For a fuller explanation, please see Page 2.
