With less than eight months to go before the election!, the American electorate is in a dark and angry mood. Americans are pessimistic about the economy and the direction of the nation, apprehensive about the future, and angry at their elected leaders. This level of discord matches and may well exceed that of 1974 and 1980, the last two turbulent elections that turned out to be the watershed elections of their respective decades. Some have even suggested that this election could be as pivotal as the 1932 election in terms of the degree of change imposed, although not in the same partisan manner.
