In the end, the race between Democratic Rep. Jamaal Bowman (NY-16) and Westchester County Executive George Latimer wasn’t that close. Latimer defeated the embattled progressive lawmaker by double digits.

It was also a rough night for former President Donald Trump: Three of his picks lost their primaries. But all had specific vulnerabilities that significantly damaged their prospects. Mark Burns, the televangelist in South Carolina’s 3rd District, had inflated his military career; Dave Williams, the state GOP chairman in Colorado’s 5th District, faced a barrage of negative ads hitting his business ties to China; and Trent Staggs was unable to translate the endorsement into any financial boon.
